Unicorngirl is Kacie Kim, a cool lil west coast interneter who splits her time between Seattle and Long Beach. Kacie, like a lot of people who do good tumblrs spends a bunch of her time on dump.fm.
And while she doesn’t actually make most (all?) of the gif’s she puts up on her tumblr I don’t think it really matters. Unicorngirl curates her tumblr in the kind of way that doesn’t take all the meaning out of the word (like the way tweeny bloggers curate their tumblrs with the same discretion and thought they put into curating their sandwich toppings at subway). But it makes sense that she digs and searches for the best throwback gifs because she’s in on Ryder Ripps Internet Archeology project too.
When I asked Kacie what her blog is “about” she said
“”just cool old school gifs.
i find [most of them] by searching picsearch.com, a random word and “animated only” results. i like gifs that “look cool” or “funnily old.” some reoccurring themes on my tumblr are guinea pigs, unicorns, dentistry (as you mentioned), christianity, pc monitors. a lot of my aesthetic is influenced by certain users on dump.fm.” 
She also told me the story behind where she got the name Unicorngirl from but she wouldn’t let me post it.
